A formal explanation from BFG |
Hi all -
I know it has been frustrating for all of you waiting on new games and new features and your frustration has not gone unnoticed.
While the following will not please everyone, it is putting our cards on the table and letting you know why things are not progressing as quickly as many of you would like.
BFG is a business and as such we need to have revenue to sustain our engineering efforts. We have struggled to balance the elements of what makes Big Sea Games special with the need for revenue to fund this project for the long term. As such we have redeployed most of the Big Sea Games engineering staff to another project while we evaluate our options.
When we know where we are taking this service we will announce those plans.
Prior to being able to communicate a formal plan, here is what you should expect:
- A good community of people to play games and interact with
- Great customer service
- A stable site to play the games your currently love
- Some fun upcoming events and promotions (watch for news from Draddog about this in the coming days)
- Opening up the registration process to users on the wait list (coming soon)
Here is what is unlikely until we have more concrete plans:
- New games or new features. These require significant engineering, testing, and technical support.
I apologize for not communicating this sooner, but our intention was not to keep you in the dark, it was simply that we did not (and still do not) know our exact road map for evolving this service.
This is not a trivial problem to solve as the team required to build, evolve and support this service and deploy new games is measured in the dozens, and they need to be supported by a sound business model to sustain this service long term.
Sincerely,
Paul Thelen
